I was kindly invited to the multi award-winning Grange Spa last weekend for a full day of relaxing and pampering, and who would say no to that?! I had never been to this spa before, so I was really excited to go and try it out for the first time. The Grange Spa is a luxury, boutique, family run pampering haven based just outside of Pointon in rural Lincolnshire.
When we got there I instantly loved the fact that the spa is set in beautiful open countryside with plenty of land all around. Perfect for clearing the mind and getting away from the craziness of life and the noisiness of the city for a day. Quite fitting with its setting, the spa itself is built from converted barns and with rustic, natural decor and finishing touches, it’s a complete countryside dream.
From the second you walk in to the open entrance and reception area, you’re greeted with a friendly face and a warm welcome. Rosie was so lovely and helped us check in before giving us a tour of the different areas and then handed over our locker keys. We found a fluffy robe and towel each inside, along with a small disposable bag to put our wet swim stuff in at the end of the day. This place thinks of everything!
One thing I love about this spa is that instead of being one big open space, The Grange feels like an actual house with different rooms that you can wander through whenever, wherever you like. With corridors and even a mini library outside of the carpeted and peaceful ‘relaxation lounge’ along with the usual spa areas with swimming pool etc. The Grange manages to create a space so homely and cozy that you really don’t want your day there to end.
As it was my first visit to The Grange, and my other spa experiences were with bigger/chain brands I wasn’t sure what to expect from a smaller spa. However, I was so amazed to discover just how many different facilities The Grange have to offer in their beautiful retreat. I knew I was in for a chilled, fabulous day!
We thought we’d check out the relaxation lounge also known as the ‘Quiet Room’ before going for a swim. Having to walk through the mini library to get to it, we got lost in the variety of books and magazines on offer. I think this is such a great idea to have at a spa, and is one of the many lovely, extra touches they have here that make it so different to any spa I’ve been to previously.
We moved onto my favourite room next, which includes the pool and a waterfall, and is where we based ourselves for the rest of the day. The whole room is heated to tropical temperatures at all times which is lovely, especially when you’re just stepping out of the water! You can easily lounge around here for hours, relaxing and taking in the tranquil setting while listening to the sounds of running water.
Also in this area are three sauna rooms/steam baths. All three are very different – with their own scent, design, and intensity of heat and steam which creates a completely different ambiance in each one. I especially love the Aroma Bath (the most intense one!) as it’s super detoxifying and the strong scent of eucalyptus completely clears your sinuses. After 10 minutes in here, I felt so much more healthier and could also breath easier. The difference was amazing! In between each steam bath I’d use the ice fountain to bring my body temperature right down again, which is really beneficial to the body as well as being a well needed cool down after the intense heat. If steam baths aren’t your thing, there’s also two experience showers, one hot and one cold, where you can create your own water experience using sprays of mists, rain fall and delightful scents. These showers are something that I’ve never seen or used before so it was fab being able to try something completely new.
The Grange Spa also have a fitness suite, and even though I didn’t actually use it on this occasion, it looked fully equipped with a modern look and would be a great place to work out. Next time I go I will be sure to bring some trainers and gym clothes with me!
I had been booked in to enjoy a couple of the spa’s best treatments so I could feel thoroughly pampered during my stay. The first of the two was their Pumpkin Spice Cocoon which was a full body massage lasting around 45 minutes and includes body brushing, warm pumpkin spice body butter and hot stones. To finish it all off you’re then tucked in a cotton cocoon whilst you’re given an amazing scalp massage. Heaven! The cocoon is the perfect way to ensure the moisture from the pumpkin spice body butter and massage oils really get to soak into the skin and work their magic.
My second treatment was the Eco Chic Facial using Pinks Boutique products, which are made with natural, organic ingredients only. Two different ranges can be used for the facial, one for oily/combination skin and one for dryer or ageing skin. With my oily skin the Lemongrass & Mandarin range was used, and the delicious aroma of lemongrass filled the air. Treatments are always 10X better when the products smell so good! The facial included deep cleansing, a mask and a neck and shoulder massage. I absolutely love skin care and trying new products, so this was just perfect for me.
Both treatments were a dream, and the lady I had, Ange, definitely knew what she was doing! She made the whole thing so relaxing and talked me through the different products she was going to be using before she started. I left the treatment room feeling like a new person, and I don’t think my skin had ever looked so glowy before! All the products used on me during the treatments were available to buy downstairs in the Spa Shop. They have a range of different brands and beauty products that can be purchased there, so if you loved a product so much, you can go home with one of your own!
The Grange Spa offers a great selection of delicious and healthy lunch options to enjoy during your stay. The dishes are freshly prepared by a local catering company, Nanny’s Hamper, who supply locally sourced food wherever possible and are based only just down the road. From salads, to fish, to meat, all the dishes sounded delicious and it was hard to make a choice! I ended up going for the lime and sweet chilli smoked salmon with sweet potato and cous cous. It was delicious! After a morning of swimming and pampering with the steam baths and treatments, having a healthy and refreshing lunch was just perfect and I think my body loved me for it. Me being me, I just had to get a glass of Prosecco to wash it all down with – all that healthiness meant I was allowed one, right!? The Grange just gets it so right when it comes to their choices of food and drink, everything is of top quality and is super yummy.
The spa’s Farm Shop Bistro is open throughout the day too, so if you’re peckish for a cake, some fruit, or if you just fancy a hot or cold drink, it’s all available to purchase there.
A relaxing, homely and beautiful boutique spa
After having such an enjoyable day at the Grange Spa, it’s clear to see why they’re multi award-winners. They have worked so hard to create a chilled, tranquil haven that is also friendly and makes you feel right at home. It’s great because due to the layout of the building and all the different areas, even on the busiest of days, it never really feels busy. Everyone’s doing their own things; some having treatments, some having lunch, or some in the relaxation lounge, so it’s always peaceful wherever you are.
The team at the spa are so kind and welcoming, and nothing is ever too much trouble. They make sure you’re having the best spa day you could possibly have, and I for one, went home feeling just that – it was without a doubt the best spa day I’ve ever had. So thank you Grange Spa for a wonderful day, I will definitely be returning!
Gift Vouchers for The Grange are available to buy from their website, and with Christmas fast approaching it would be the perfect prezzie to give to a loved one who enjoys a good pamper, or might just want some time out to relax. They may just discover their new favourite spa!
