I love the summer time and warm weather as much as the next person, however I’m now starting to get a little bit bored of sleeping with the fan on every night and feel like I’m ready for the changing of the seasons. Out of them all, Autumn has always been and probably always will be my favourite season. It’s quite an unpopular opinion compared to the masses that prefer the summer, but there’s just something about the firey leaves and darker evenings that make me feel so cosy and content when I’m wrapped up inside. Coming into Autumn is also the best excuse to update my Autumn/Winter wardrobe and shopping for jumpers, coats and boots gets me so excited for cooler weather. I just love to mix and match and layer up.
I recently purchased this fab chunky knitted cardigan and I couldn’t wait to create some outfits with it. I’ve been looking out for something like this since last Autumn, but couldn’t find anything that was exactly what I wanted. This cream cardi is from Pimkie on ASOS and is the perfect mix of style, comfort, warmth and is soo affordable too! At £17 this was a no brainer when choosing what to add to my basket… With the amount of wear I will be getting out of this over the next few months I will definitely be getting my moneys worth. In fact I still can’t get over how good the quality and feel of this is for the price I paid! Normally I would expect to have to snip a loose thread here or there, or prepare for the item to be more style over substance and not really be comfy or keep me warm at all. So I’m super impressed with ASOS for this one.
I feel this is a perfect, simple transitional item as the colour and style will go with pretty much anything – whether you’re still trying to get the most out of your summer clothes, or have now moved onto a fully Autumnal wardrobe. For in-between seasons this is the easiest thing to carry round and throw on whenever it starts to get breezy or cool.
For a chilled weekend look I like to style this cardi with a plain t-shirt and jeans, like I have done here, keeping the knitwear the main focus of the outfit. I’d also wear this over a cute dress or skirt with some flat boots (or just keep the heels, depending on what I’m feeling!). I can’t forget to mention these super adorable but affordable necklaces from Matalan. I just had to pick up the mini horn choker as soon as I saw it as it’s a fab dupe for the Missoma X Lucy Williams tiny horn necklace which I love, but can never justify buying myself! (I’ve still got my sights set on the Missoma X Lucy Williams mini fang necklace though… one day I will have you!) The second necklace is my star sign, Scorpio, and I think it looks really cute layered with the small choker. These pieces are just a small, dainty finishing touch to quite a plain but cosy Autumnal outfit.
What key Autumnal pieces have you been buying for the coming months? Or are you still holding on to the last of the Summer?
